Mini 4WD Slot Car Racer STEM (6th, 7th & 8th Grade)

Introducing STEM and racing to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students! In each class, students will seamlessly connect STEM concepts to the hands-on experience of building their own Tamiya Mini 4WD race cars. The focus of the course is to do a deep dive into Newton's Laws of Motion. Topics in this course will focus on Static vs Dynamic physics models, learning how push and pull forces are all around us at all times! The course culminates in a thrilling final project, where students put their understanding and building skills up against other racers. The students will race against the clock, who's going to the be fastest driver?

This course places emphasis on Newton's Laws of Motion and how they apply to their race car. Each class will focus on one Law of Motion and make a real world connection. Key concepts covered include introduction to STEM, Newton's Law of Motion, reading assembly drawings and following build instructions, using basic hand tools,  using measurement tools, calculating velocities. Students will be provided with all the necessary tools and equipment to build their race cars. Each participant will receive the Mini 4WD Slot Racer Session 1.0 build/STEM manual, and of course, they get to take their race cars home!

2 Week Session, 2 Hrs per week (4 Hours Total)

Program Cost: $125.00 USD (Includes program fee, student manual and Slot Car Racer)
